Nick Stabile as Dennis Wilson

I almost didn’t watch this TV movie. I’d seen “Summer Dreams” and thought this was going to be just as disappointing. I respect  Bruce Greenwood as an actor, but for me, he just wasn’t Dennis Wilson. Nick Stabile, however, had me drawn into the story before he uttered a word. He smiled. Then he giggled. Suddenly it was summer in February and I was once again a preteen girl, giggling right back.

It wasn’t just the handsome young actor on the small screen that had me blushing. I was actually remembering Dennis. I attribute this to the amazing talent of the actor portraying him. Nick had the walk, the talk, the laugh, the way Dennis held his head, so many things that I remembered about the Beach Boys’ drummer. I was so caught up, I didn’t notice that Nick’s eyes are brown and Dennis’ were a standout blue.

The 48 hours waiting for part 2 was agonizing, but worth the wait. Playing Dennis in the years when his inner demons were surfacing couldn’t have been easy. Nick did it and he did it well. I was impressed. I started watching other TV shows and movies with Nick in the cast. His talent never let me down, whether he was struggling with a murderous Chucky doll or flirting with Alissa Milano.

Nick’s Official website wasn’t updating much due to the creator’s busy school schedule. I’d been playing with the free websites that Yahoo was handing out with every screen name back then. Pick a template, add a photo, a few lines of text and you’re a webmaster. So I used Nick as my first subject. One page turned into two. Two pages became 4. Nick had previously purchased his domain name and asked if I could make my website “official”. I was honored.

I remember watching him work while on the set of Santa Jr.  a few years ago with tears in my eyes. I was so proud of him. Not many aspiring actors have the drive or the passion or the talent to survive in Hollywood. Nick has all three. I’m still honored, 9 years later, to be his webmaster and his friend.

Got your scorecards ready? Here’s the initial family. These are my “web kids”, a very talented group of artists who were brave enough to let me play with their websites. (If you mouse over the thumbnails on the left, you can see everyone’s name and a snap of their website.)

Nick Stabile was my first actor website – my first website period. He starred as Dennis Wilson in the TV mini-series The Beach Boys, An American Family. Working on the show, he met Jon Stebbins, author of “Dennis Wilson, The Real Beach Boy”. Through Jon, I also met Stephen Kalinich, an amazing lyricist and poet who wrote  many songs with Dennis. Nick was in the same episode of Popular as Drew Powell. Drew co-starred with Matt Carmody in The Ponderosa. Veronica Powell is Drew’s wife. Ursula Taherian co-starred with Matt in Carver.

See, I told you Hollywood was a small town. I’ll be writing about many more of their friends in the future, too. Everyone  is connected in “less than six degrees”.
